Photos of the Amazon

About 10 years ago I lived for a few months in the Amazon rainforest. I was volunteering in an animal rescue and conservation center at the heart of the peruvian Amazon called Taricaya Ecoreserve. Most of the photographs of this post were shot there, with a few additional ones alongside my backpacking time in the Andes.

If you've reached this point you've seen about half of the photos of this post. Make sure that you are subscribed and logged-in to view the rest (spoiler alert: get ready for some more alien caterpillars, funky monkeys, cute birds and stunning plants)
But before moving on I want to share something with you...
The reason I decided to post these photos almost 10 years after having taken them is to inspire people to take action and contribute to the protection and restauration of these vital and critically destroyed forests.
I believe that :
- All the species on these photos deserve to thrive on our planet.
- I have my part of responsibility in the destruction of their habitat.
- There are actions I can take at my level to help with this situation.
Do you?
Oh you too?? That's awesome!! 🤗 Then here is a gift for you. Figuring out how to contribute can be overwhelming and confusing so I came up with a little framework.
Note: My intention here is to support environmental action by connecting people to beauty (with the photos) + simplifying the paths to action (with this framework as food-for-thought). I hope it resonates with you.
🐝 You have MONEY but no time like you're a full time worker earning probably more than you realize CHANGE THE IMPACT OF YOUR MONEY: - Change the bank where you put your money* - Make impactful donations - Make your company donate |
🦋 You have TIME but no money like you're a student on a gap year or retired and on a limited budget MAKE BEST USE OF YOUR TIME: - Choose a meaningful career - Volunteer your time in conservation - Participate in environmental activism |
🦅 You have MONEY and TIME like you're clearly well off (awesome!) so on top of doing all of the above CHANGE YOUR LIFESTYLE: - Eat less meat, more plants - Travel less by plane/car, more by train/bike - Buy less new, more second-hand |
🐤 You have neither time nor money like life is actually hard for you...well, your footprint is probably already small so FOCUS ON YOUR LIFE: - Be a good person - Spread the word - Vote for representatives with real environmental commitments |
⚠ The framework contains 4 quadrants so make sure to scroll or put your screen horizontal if you're reading from a smartphone 😉
* Actually you know what... if there is one single thing to do to start it would be it: Move your money to an eco-bank focused on ethical and ecological investments (most countries have at least one - I let you do your research). It's probably the most underestimated single action with the largest impact one can make as an individual !!
Now let's continue the journey with more photos...
